A Busy First Term in Second Class. Well done Boys!

The boys of second class had great fun learning all about autumn. We proudly displayed our beautiful art work.

Look at us in our Halloween costumes enjoying our art lesson creating Dracula’s castle. This month we learned that Dracula was actually a cruel Romanian prince who had his army fight in many wars. Bram Stoker, an Irish author created the character of Dracula the vampire after reading about this prince. Dracula never lived in Transylvania.

Together we wrote an acrostic poem Pumpkin.

Oíche Shamhna

Skittles Experiment. The boys learned that Skittles are coated with sugar and food colouring. When warm water is added to the Skittles, the sugar and food colouring start to dissolve. They have similar amounts coated on them so they dissolve at similar speeds and stay in their lanes.

Materials: Skittles, plates and warm water.

Method:

  1. The boys placed the Skittles in a circle on a plate
  2. They alternated the colours.
  3. We poured warm water into the centre of the circle.

Results:

The Skittles are coated in food colouring and sugar. When we poured the water over the Skittles, the colour coating dissolved spreading through the water.

Our Halloween version of this Experiment.
