Sixth class set off on the early train to Dublin on June 8. The excitement in Kent Station was palpable as we boarded the train on a glorious June morning. We arrived in Heuston Station and our first stop was Glasnevin Cemetery. We had covered the 1916 Easter Rising in History class and our guide took us around on the 1916 tour. He was most impressed by our knowledge of Irish History and praised us for this. We visited the O’ Connell Tower and we were fascinated as our guide told us all about the life of the Emancipator Daniel O Connell.
Our next stop was Croke Park where we had a delicious lunch before commencing our tour of the stadium. We were most impressed by the stadium itself and enjoyed it as our guide Jerry told us about Bloody Sunday. Again he was most impressed by our knowledge of Irish History. We were commended for our exemplary behaviour. We really enjoyed out time in the interactive games area but Mr. Murphy was the star with his exceptional hurling strikes!
Finally we visited Jervis Street Shopping Centre and ended our day with some shopping.
A great day was had by all and the boys were a credit to their families and the school.
