Pupils’ in fourth and fifth classes will start music lesson with Michael from Music Generation this week. This is a great opportunity for pupils to learn a musical instrument
Music Generation Cork City (MGCC) is a music education programme that works in partnership with community based musicians and music organisations to bring music education into the lives of children and young people across Cork City. Using the Community Education process, programmes are being made available in the places where children live, play, and go to school, bringing opportunities for music-making into the heart of Cork’s communities.
On Wednesday the 20th we are asking everyone in the school community to join Togher Learning Neighbourhood at St. Finbarr’s Hurling & Football Club for a celebration of alll things Irish. Meet local people and see pictures taken during the year by all the people that made this year such a great year for Togher. The boys from 5th and 6th will sing songs as Gaeilge and we will also be learning the Siege of Ennis, a traditional Irish dance. The event will take place between 13:00 and 15:00 and all are welcome.

This year the boys in fifth class will be participating in a 10 week Science Technology Education Art Maths Project with a PHD student from UCC. This is great opportunity for the boys to explore different topics through Science, Technology, Art and Maths. Click here to learn about the project.
The school is starting a new school choir this year under the direction of Peter Stobart. Peter is the Director of Music in St. Finbarr’s Cathedral and we are delighted for him to be directing the boys from 3rd to 5th class this year.
