By Alex Ellard Punch

A shark’s Irish name is siorc. It’s scientific name is selachimorpha. A shark’s size is 18cm. A shark’s colour is brown, olive or grayish. Its lifespan is 20-30 years. You can find a shark in the Atlantic and Pacific. A shark lives up to 2,000 metres/6,600 ft deep. A shark likes to eat fish, large sea-mammals, dolphins and seals they also eat turtles and seagulls or even other sharks they eat chacma baboons and also sperm whales. The shark protects itself with their teeth. Their teeth protect them by biting the enemy and making them swim away. Five facts about sharks. Sharks do not have bones. Most sharks have special electroreceptor organs. Sharks skin feels similar to sandpaper. Sharks can go into trance.

Blob fish

By Tristan Bonus

The Irish name for blob fish is Iasc Fionn which is very interesting. The main scientific name is Pyrolites Marcidus which is very interesting because it has psycho in its name and that means deadly. The size of the blob fish is the size of a ruler which is incredibly small compared to the photos online .The main colour for the Blob fish is pink when its deep in the ocean .The blob fishes lifespan is about 130 years old which is longer then an average human .The oceans that the blob fishes live in is the Pacific ,Atlantic and the Indian ocean .The dept that blob fishes live in is 3,940 feet down in the oceans .

Blob fishes love eating sea pens, crabs and many different invertebrates on the floor sea bed and they, also eat anything in their way like small fish. Surprisingly nothing eats the blob fish, probably because its poisonous or maybe because its ugly.

Blob fishes protect their self by relying on their gelatinous. Considering that nothing eats blob fishes or attacks, blob fishes protect have to prevent their skin from scraping on the floor sea bed , especially the coral .If their body gets hit on the floor sea bed they will immediately swim away.

A blob fish that lives in the coast of New Zealand have soft bones and a lack of swim bladder. Blob fishes rely on the water pressure to keep their body in shape. Blob fishes do not have any teeth so they would have to eat small. Blobfishes do not have a big nose, they have a small one. They eat different crustaceans on their way.

Dolphins

By Zach Duffy

My deep-sea creature is a dolphin. The Irish name for dolphin is Deilf. A dolphin’s scientific name is Delphinidae. The size of a dolphin is 2.9m or 8.5 feet. A dolphin has a variety of colours like white, pearl, pink, brown, grey, blue and black. A dolphin is usually alive for 50 to 90 years. You can find dolphins in 100 to 900 meters in the sea.

Dolphins like to eat a variety of fish and a they also eat squid, shrimp and octopuses. But now let’s talk about things that eat dolphins. Nearly every shark eats dolphins. The bull shark, The dusky shark, The tiger shark and the great white shark. Dolphins also eat box jelly fish in the deep sea.

But Dolphins can protect themselves from sharks. They come together in pods and defend each other. So, whenever a shark comes along and tries to attack the dolphins they all start to chase the shark and ram the shark when it catches up.

To conclude I am going to tell you some facts about dolphins. My first fact is that a group of dolphins is called a pod. My second fact is that the short beaked common dolphin is one of the most abundant and familiar dolphins in world. My next fact is that dolphins are meat eaters which means they are carnivores. My next fact is that dolphins have a bigger brain than humans. This is why they use half their brains to sleep. A dolphin can swim at 20 miles per hour. My final fact is a dolphin has two stomachs just like cows.

Turtles

By Drew Seymour

My deep sea creature is the turtle .

For my deep sea creature, the English name is turtle and the Irish name is turtar. It normally grows up to 4 to 10 inches the scientific name is testudines. The turtle’s lifespan is normally 30 years. The colour of the turtle is tan and green. The sea that the turtle lives in is the polar sea. It normally lives in about 900ft deep

Turtle normally eat aquatic plants, fish, eartworms, crickets, lettuce, carrot’s, and here us one weird one they also eat tomato’s but I don’t know how they get some of the food

There are a surprising amount of predators that hunt turtle’s even I was surprised but the predators are birds, sharks, snakes, dogs, racoons, snaping turtle’s, dolphins, crabs, lizards and a lot of other creatures in the polar sea.

Turtles normally protect themselves by tucking their arms and head and legs into there shell and wait for whatever creature that is hunting them once the creature goes away the turtle scrambles and hide.

Here is one fact about turtles. Some turtles eat green turtles when they are really hungry.

Turtles that live in the sea are called sea turtles. A lot of people mistake turtles for tortoises. Fresh water turtles are called terrapins. a lot of fresh water  turtles sunbathe on logs and rocks.

Box Jellyfish

By Damjan Golic

My favourite sea creature is the box jellyfish. The Irish name is smugaire roin. The latin name is chironex flecheri. Very hard to pronounce. They are fairly small compared to other jellyfish. They are 1 foot in diameter and 10 feet long. Its pale blue so its hard to see in the ocean. Its lifespan is up to about 3 months while in a science lab they live up to 7-8 months. Its found in the Indo-Pacific ocean. It roams around 50cm deep so that’s why they are a huge hazard. The box jellyfish is the most venomous sea creature in the world. They can kill people in a matter of minutes. They also have 24 eyes which is funny because other jellyfish don’t have any eyes. Box jellyfish have no heart and that’s weird because they have functioning eyes. Turtles are immune to the stings. Box jellyfish can reverse their age and become larva and then restart their life. Green sea turtles prey on the jellyfish. The box jellyfish eats small fish and crustaceans. It uses its tentacles to kill its prey.

Hopefully you enjoyed my review on the box jellyfish. Thanks for listening.

Hammerhead Shark

By RIley McCabe

My deep-sea creature is the hammerhead shark. Its scientific name is the Sphyrnidae. There English name is hammerhead shark. their size is 13 to 20 feet. Their colour is olive green to grey brown. Their lifespan is 30 years old. The ocean a hammerhead shark live at is the Atlantic ocean, Indian ocean, pacific ocean. The depth a hammerhead shark can usually is 300 metres but the farthest a hammerhead shark was found at was 800 metres. a fact hammerhead sharks use their head to kill sting rays. Another fact hammerhead sharks aren’t often killed because they have sandpaper like skin.

Blue Ringed Octopus

by Noah McSweeney

My sea creature is the Blue Ringed octopus.

The English name for this octopus is the Blue Ringed octopus.

The Irish name for the Blue Ring octopus is very similar to the English name for octopus it is ochtapus. The size of the octopus  is 12cm in with. The blue ringed octopus has a strange but cool colour it is blue tan to dark yellow. The life span of this octopus is 24 mounts which is 2years so it is not that long. You would usually find these creatures in the Pacific  and Indian Ocean and sometimes near Japan. The Blue ringed octopus  live 50 m in the ocean in depth wise witch is 126 feet in the ocean.

The blue ringed octopus eat small crabs and Hermit crab to crabs and shrimp and small fish how ever they are usually crab eaters the blue ringed octopus usually hunt at night since that  is best for them because of there colour

Nothing likes to eat the blue ringed octopus except for birds but here is the thing that even if the bird gets the octopus in its belly it will put its parrot like beak on the birds belly and inject  its venom and kill the bird an get out without breaking a sweat.

The octopus doesn’t really have any enemies in the water but when it comes to protecting itself it would bite/fight each other if they are competing with food or space. They hide in crevices and during the day to hide from any predators that are trying to attack them. When they go past the octopus that is in the crevices it sneak attack the other creature and poison it to end the fight.

FACTS

The blue ringed octopus has a parrot like beak that can bite through your wetsuit.

There are at least 10 species of the blue ringed octopus

The blue ringed octopus is an size of a golf ball

The octopus has enough venom to kill 26 humans in minutes

The octopus typically live on coral reef and rocky areas of the sea floor.

Northern Stargazer

By Conor Sheehan

My sea creature is called the Northern Stargazer. The Irish name for the Northern Stargazer is known as Stargazer Thuaidh. The scientific name for the northern stargazer is Astroscopus Gutas. The size of their northern stargazer is 22 inches in the average size is about 8 to 18 inches. Their body colour is brownish with many small white spots. The life spawn of the northern stargazer is 5 to 6 years.  You will find the northern stargazer in the Atlantic Ocean.  the depth you will find me in 120 feet (36 m).

Northern stargazer like to eat crabs and small fish. The northern stargazer hunt by burying themselves in sand with their eyes and mouth sticking out just enough to catch their prey

Sharks and big fish like to eat them. In some culture’s they eat the Northern stargazer. They can be found in some fish markets across the world.

The Northern stargazer fish has a special organ behind its eyes that produces an electric shock which it uses defensively.
