Sixth Class Visit The Glucksman Gallery.

Sixth class were delighted to visit the Glucksman Gallery in UCC today as part of a project taking place there. The project entitled “ Beneath Our Feet” explores Irish History, heritage and the environment through specially designed art workshops.

We had a tour of the gallery first where our guide Aoife spoke to us about the artefacts on display. The theme of environmental sustainability was openly discussed and we were able to draw on all the pre learning we had undertaken. The boys made some wonderful contributions to our discussions.

Subsequently we had an art workshop where we worked with clay and designed many of the historical items and artefacts we had seen. The boys produced some amazing pieces and they will have a further opportunity to visit the gallery between March 14-17 where their work will be showcased. Aoife has invited us to a further follow up workshop in May.

Afterwards we enjoyed a delicious lunch in the student canteen and got a little taste of college life.

Well done to all the boys; behaviour was exemplary and they all engaged so well with all the presentations. We are looking forward to our next trip.
