Final Trip For Sixth Class.

To celebrate the end of a wonderful year in sixth class we went on our final trip today. We walked to Shandon to ring the bells and savour the view of our beautiful city from the tower of Shandon.

Our first stop on the way was to take a photo of the Michael Collins statue in Grand Parade. Many of the boys have developed a keen interest in Irish History and are reading books about Michael Collins.

Next up we visited the Butter Exchange in Shandon and we were fascinated to learn of its history. To think of the butter roads from parts of West cork and Kerry to Shandon really intrigued us.

We proceeded to the Chapel of St. Mary and St. Ann and climbed the steps to ring the famous Shandon Bells and we were enthralled by the view from the top of the tower.

We had lunch in town and visited Fitzgerald’s Park where we had great fun. It was a beautiful day and a great way to end our time in Togher Boys’ School with our friends.

The sun shone down on us today as we walked around our beautiful city and we will always remember this day.
