My class and I just recently watched the film Wonder. The film was made in 2017 based off a book called Wonder by R.J. Palacio. The director of the film is Stephen Chobsky. The genre of the movie is wholesome and family-friendly.
When Auggie was 10 years old he started school. But school wasn’t going to be easy because he was born with a facial condition called a Cleft Palate. He had to take a lot of surgery to make his condition look better which left him with lots of scars. On Auggie’s induction day at school he was introduced to the principal Mr Tushman,Ms Garcia and three students called Julian, Charlotte and Jack. Mr Tushman asked them to take him on a tour. When they were on the tour Julian started to ask mean questions and that got Auggie upset. On Auggie’s first day of school he went to his first class. Meanwhile when he was introducing himself Julian started asking nasty questions and Auggie got sad. At lunch Julian kept bullying Auggie. Suddenly Jack went up to sit with him and they found out they had lots in common and became friends.
Then at Halloween it was a dress up day and Auggie was Ghost Face with a mask. When Auggie got into school he went to class early and Jack didn’t know he was there then Julian asked ‘Why do you even hang out with him in the first place’ and Jack trying to fit in said he would kill himself if he looked like Auggie. Auggie heard him and started crying and called home because he threw up. A few days later Julian put a note on Auggie’s table telling him to leave the school because he is ugly and he edited him out of the school paper. Auggie got sad and told the teacher and then Julian got expelled. On their school tour Jack and Auggie became friends again also and had lots of other friends now. Then on the last day of school Auggie won the Henry Word Beecher Medal for strength and character development.
Auggie is a kind caring boy with a facial condition called Cleft Palate which after lots of surgery leaves you with scars. He is funny and ended up having lots of friends his best friend Jack Will is kind and always stands up for Auggie when he gets bullied. Auggie also has a sister called Via who always has his back when he is sad but sometimes gets jealous because of the amount of attention he gets. Wonder has other character like Via’s boyfriend, Miranda, Mom, Dad, Charlotte, Daisy.
Based off of my opinion my favorite part of the movie was when Jack and Julian fought because Julian wasn’t saying nice things about Auggie. My least favorite part was when It was Halloween and Jack said something mean about Auggie. Honestly, I would give this movie a 3/5 and would recommend it to people to be nice to everyone but it sometimes gets a bit boring.
