Junior Infants Trip to Farran Woods

Last Friday the boys in Junior Infants were very lucky to have the opportunity to visit Farran Woods. We set off on a beautiful crisp morning and were so excited heading off on the bus. When we arrived at Farran Woods the boys were able to put their knowledge of Autumn to good use and identified signs of Autumn using their senses. We could hear the birds chirping, we could smell the trees and plants, we could touch the bark of the tree and we could see all the wonderful autumnal colours.

The boys saw lots of different types of trees and noticed the shapes of the leaves beneath their feet. We looked at the rings in the tree trunk and identified that the trees in Farran Woods are very old. The boys were mesmerized when we bumped into some beautiful deer and we were able to see wildlife up close. The boys learned about a doe, a stag and a fawn and they watched closely as the doe protected her young.

We also enjoyed a lovely picnic and had great fun in the playground! An enjoyable day was had by all!
