A Great First Term in 4th Class

Ms Mc Gloin’s fourth class have had a great first term full of fun, learning, books, trips and more!

Camden Fort Meaghar

In October Ms Mc Glon, Mr. Bergin and Mr. Murphy’s classes went on a trip to Camden Fort Meaghar in Crosshaven. Our brilliant guide showed us around and we leaned lots about the history of the fort.

Though originally constructed in the 16th century, the current structures of the 45 acre fort date to the 1860s. Originally named Fort Camden and operated by the British Armed Forces, the fort was handed-over to the Irish Defence Forces in 1938. Renamed Fort Meagher in honour of Thomas Francis Meagher, it remained an Irish military installation until 1989 when the Irish Army handed the fort over to Cork County Council.

STEM Week

We had great fun during STEM week exploring some fun maths and engineeriung resources with Lifetime Labs

Books, Books and More Books

We are very enthusiatic readers here in Rang 4. Some of our favourite authors include Katherine Rundell, David Walliams, Roald Dahl, Dav Pilkey and Jeff Kinney. The boys were lucky to receive a book each at Halloween and again for Christmas. Happy Reading!

Once Upon a Time…

Future authors and illustrators…

We had great fun in November and December learning all about fairytales and creating our own fractured fairytales.

Did you know that the story of Cinderella originated in China. Instead of a fairygodmother Cinderlla’s wishes were granted by a gold fish!

We studied the elements of fairytales and looked at modern versions and twists on these classic tales before planning, writing and publishing our own. We then got the opportunity to share our work with Ms Curran’s second class.

Brilliant Artists in Rang a 4!

The Sky is the Limit!

Happy Chirstmas from Ms Mc Gloin’s Rang 4

We cant wait to see what great things we will achieve in the New Year
