Sixth Class Trip to Gougane Barra.

What a memorable day sixth class had today when we set off bright and early on this most beautiful day for our annual trip to Gougane Barra. We are very grateful to our wonderful Parents’ Association for funding the trip.

We arrived in Gougane Barra to see the sun shining down on the glassy lake. What a tranquil place this is.

We hiked to the scource of the River Lee and on the way back went through the forest following Slí na Laoi. We were amazed at the peace and beauty of the place. We visited the oratory and the bee hive huts where St. Finbarr lived with his monks . We took a moment here to think and to be mindful of our gratitude for the wonderful opportunity provided to us to visit here today.

Finally we finished off in the hotel with a delicious lunch. The hotel staff complimented the boys for their manners and gratitude.

We are looking forward to our final trip to Dublin in two weeks time.
