Bonjour! This week, Ms Mc Gloin’s Fourth Class enjoyed an exciting introduction to French. The boys learned some basic French phrases such as Bonjour! (Hello), Ça va? (How are you?), and Merci! (Thank you). They also explored French greetings, numbers, and even practiced short conversations with one another.
As part of our language learning journey, the class also took time to reflect on their own language identities and the different languages spoken in their homes and communities. We explored the many countries around the world where French is spoken, and had interesting discussions about common French stereotypes, discovering which ones are true, and which are not.
To bring a taste of France into the classroom, a selection of French foods were brought in for the class to sample. There were croissants, brioche, palmiers, and other tasty treats, a real hit with everyone! It was a fun and engaging way to connect language learning with culture, and the boys thoroughly enjoyed trying something new.
