On a beautiful sunny day, Fourth Class set off on a special walk from Togher to Waterstones Bookshop in Cork City. Our route took us past the Lough and St Fin Barre’s Cathedral, making the journey just as memorable as the destination.
This visit was more than just a trip, it was a celebration of our strong reading culture in Togher Boys. Each boy received a book of their choice, a gift from the school, making this the fourth book they’ve received this year. For many, this visit felt particularly special, as they had the chance to step inside a real bookshop, browse the shelves, and choose a book that truly interested them.
Biographies, sport books, and graphic novels were among the most popular picks. Whether it was the excitement of finding a new read or the fun of chatting about books with friends, there was something for everyone.
As we head into the summer months, we know how important it is to keep up the reading habit. This trip was not just a treat, but a a great reminder of the joy that books and reading brings.
Happy summer reading, boys!
