Fifth and Sixth Classes Visit Cork City Gaol.

What a wonderful day was had by our senior pupils today when we visited Cork City Gaol in Sunday’s Well. As part of our active school initiative, we walked to our destination. We had been learning about the history of the Gaol in class and we were fascinated to see the gaol and experience first hand what it must have been like to be imprisoned there in the 1800s.

We were enthralled by the stories relayed to us by our tour guide and definitely life in Cork in the 1800s was very grim for some. We also visited Fitzgerald’s Park and had great fun with our classmates.

As usual the boys were exceptionally well behaved all day and they are a credit to both their families and the school.
