Admiring Autumn in Farran Woods

The Junior Infants went on their first school trip today to Farran Woods. We have been learning all about Autumn and we were excited to be able to look at all the different signs of Autumn in the woods. The boys identified different types of trees and were able to spot some differences between evergreen and deciduous trees. We went on a nature hunt and found some pine cones, acorns and lots of different coloured leaves. The boys noticed how some of the leaves were beginning to change colour from green to orange and brown.

We were also very lucky to have seen so many deer in the woods. We fed them carrots and practiced all the new vocabulary we have learned. We saw some stags, a doe and some fawn. We also saw some ducks and listened to all the different birds calling out from the trees.

There was also some time to enjoy the playground where the boys had lots of fun playing with their friends. We had a great day out and finished our trip off with a picnic! The boys were excellent throughout the whole day and we are looking forward to our next outing!
