Things took a spooky turn in 1st class as we prepared for Halloween across our different subject areas.
Gaeilge: BhÃomar ag caint, ag léamh, ag scrÃobh agus ag tarraingt faoi OÃche Shamhna.
Art: We learned about the late Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, who was known as the “Princess of the Pumpkins”. We attempted to replicate her signature pumpkin art, decorated with polka dots.
English: We learned a poem about Halloween, learned lots of new vocabulary which we used in our creative writing, composed and wrote acrostic poems and read a few scary stories!!
Fine Motor Skills: We learned the art of stencilling, which involved drawing around wooden Halloween figures. We really had to keep a steady hand. Then we cut them out, coloured them and made collages.
Drama: We came to school on Wednesday dressed in our scariest costumes. We even acted out some characters, including our two Barrs sports stars in their blue!
Treats: We even had special Halloween doughnuts as a treat. They were delicious!!
