This Science Week, Ms Mc Gloin’s 3rd class had an exciting time learning all about magnets! We discovered how magnets can attract and repel each other and explored the invisible magnetic fields around them.
The boys explored how to make temporary magnets using paper clips. We also experimented with different materials to see which ones were magnetic and which ones were not. We tested our hypothesis that all metal was magnetic and discovered through experimenting that only certain metals are magnetic; iron, nickel, cobalt and steel. We also learned about alloys, a combination of metals.
Science Week was full of hands-on learning, fun experiments, and lots of curiosity. We loved seeing how magnets work in everyday life and can’t wait to explore more science experiments in the future!
