This year we are again working towards achieving the green flag for transport.
Our new slogan is, ‘Stop the pollution of the air. Walk or cycle because we care!’
To support our aim of encouraging students to use environmentally friendly means of transport a new bicycle shed has been installed. We would like to thank An Taisce and Green-Schools for providing the funding.
Walking, cycling or scooting are means of coming to and from school that Togher BNS has always promoted as an alternative to driving.
Not only does this help promote a healthy lifestyle for our students it is also good for the environment. Taking recent public health advice into consideration it is recommended to avail of these alternative means of transport if possible.
In our efforts to promote ‘greener’ ways to travel to school we will have a ‘Scoot to School’ day next Wednesday 30th September. We encourage all students who own a scooter to scoot to school if possible.
Students can park their scooters in the new bike shed or in the old one behind the school. As students may have the same or similar scooters we would kindly request that parents place a label with your child’s name on their scooter.
The safety of students is our main concern so please ensure your son is accompanied and wears protective equipment such as a helmet or elbow/kneepads.
If students live far from the school they can park a distance from the school and scoot the rest of the way.
