This week we have been investigating and discussing flight. As part of this we examined how helicopters fly and designed our own. Through observation and use of maths, we saw how different factors affected the flight time of our helicopters. We discovered that longer blades led to increased flight time and we could change the direction of the rotation by reversing the helicopter blades. We also saw that adding weight to the tail of our helicopters increased rotation speed but decreased our flight time. Here are some pictures of our science in action!
