The boys in Mr Wilson’s class were exploring “forces” this week. We looked at the thrilling sport of parachuting and discussed how parachutes combatted gravity.
The boys followed the scientific method to develop a hypothesis and test it. We used play-dough as a stand-in for the people, and designed parachutes to slow the descent of the playdough.
The boys were given a variety of materials to create the parachutes. We tested cling film, paper, tissues, greaseproof paper, and tinfoil. Paper and tinfoil were the winners as they slowed the descent of the playdough to 3-4 seconds.
The boys had lots of fun testing the parachutes in the wind outside!
Please enjoy a few pictures and videos from the day!
