6th Class Walk to Cork City Gaol

6th Class enjoyed a trip to Cork City Gaol today in beautiful sunny conditions. After a pleasant stroll, including a pit stop in Fitzgerald’s park, the boys arrived at the impressive 19th century building. The boys were fascinated to learn about the prison system of the Victorian era and the harsh conditions the prisoners endured. The overcrowded and unhygienic prison even housed child inmates and we were all thankful that times have changed since then! Another stop off in Fitzgerald’s park and the walk back to school completed a great day out for the boys.
