Dear parent(s)/ guardian(s),
This year and next we will be working towards earning the Green Schools Flag for Biodiversity.
Biodiversity looks at steps which can be taken in schools to increase awareness of the importance of native plants, animals and habitats, and to increase species-richness in a locality.
We have already made great progress with the new raised beds in the garden and by sowing wild flowers around the perimeter of the school.
As part of our efforts the school has entered Applegreen’s BioDive Campaign.
BioDive is a biodiversity campaign to help support biodiversity education in primary schools throughout the Republic of Ireland by providing educational support and resources.
Registered primary schools can win a biodiversity garden for their school worth €10,000, or full day biodiversity workshops, supported and delivered by Biodiversity in schools.
To be in with a chance to win the competition we must collect 120 stickers to fill the BioDive poster. Applegreen customers can collect stickers in store with every purchase of €5 or more.
We are asking for your help to collect all 120 stickers. If you are shopping in an Applegreen shop could you please ask for the stickers and send them into the school.
Many thanks,
Green School Committee
