The Barrs are in the County Hurling final!

The excitement is real in Togher Boys N.S this week as the Barr’s are playing in the county senior hurling final this coming Sunday at 4pm in Páirc Ui Chaoimh!

The boys in Mr O’Shea’s 2nd Class have been building up for the match all week by designing their own Barrs jersey for Art, singing and discussing a famous St. Finbarr’s song for Music and learning about the past and the locality for History.

The Barrs are looking to end a 29 year drought on Sunday. The blue and yellow bunting is everywhere on all approach roads Togher! The boys in 2nd Class believe that a ‘blue wave’ is on the cards, first up the hurling final against the famous Rockies and then the football final against city rivals Nemo Rangers in a fortnights time. A pair of city derbies liberally laced with tradition and history await the faithful and there’s talk of a possible double, like the good old days.

This past week, the boys learned that during the 1970s-80s, the Barrs were unstoppable, claiming Cork, Munster and All-Ireland titles. The boys are really proud of this and were talking to their parents and grandparents about these historic times! The 2nd Class boys as well as the rest of the school community are hoping and praying that Sunday is the start of something special again in Togher!

Allez Les Bleus!
