On Thursday, 5th class spent a fantastic day in Clonakilty. Our first stop was the Michael Collins Centre where Tim and Dolores Crowley have us an incredible insight into the life of an Irish hero. The boys were enthralled by the stories, artefacts, newspaper cuttings and photographs that documented the life of Collins. After weeks spent studying the events of 1916, the War of Independence and the Civil War, the boys were really well informed and well placed to fully take in the experience. Tim commented on how knowledgeable and well behaved they were!

Next stop was the Model Railway Village where the boys got a great view of the incredible models of West Cork towns such as Clonakilty, Bandon, Kinsale and Skibbereen.

After a trip to Super Valu to buy our lunch, we went to the Long Strand Beach. Here the boys enjoyed their lunch before played hurling and football, digging holes, making sandcastle and skimming stones!

Finally it was time to go home and the boys arrived back exhausted but happy.
