4th Class Seashore Safari in Fountainstown

Yesterday Ms Mc Gloin’s and Mr. Bergin’s fourth class went on a seashore safari with lifetime lab at Fountainstown beach. The boys had lots of opportunities to learn all about the plants and wildlife found at a rocky seashore.

We had a competition to see who could build the highest stone cairn! We also had great fun searching for Mermaid’s purses.

The boys then headed over towards the rock pools with their nets and buckets in search of some sea creatures. Our Safari guide gave us lots of information about periwinkles, limpets, top shells and barnacles. The boys found an impressive amount of sea creatures including many species of crabs, rock pool prawns, blennys, rock gobys and the very impressive sea scorpion!
