Can you believe it’s October already? Here in Junior Infants, we are celebrating all things Autumn and our investigation table is quickly being filled with crunchy autumn leaves, pine cones, conkers and some amazing artwork of squirrels and leaf art by the boys!
We link our theme of the month to what our theme is in Aistear, and this month we have chosen the theme of…you guessed it, Autumn! We engage in Aistear everyday and the boys interact with every activity over the course of the week. Aistear provides fantastic opportunities for the boys to engage in many curricular areas and they are able to learn effectively through play and hands on multi-sensory activities. We have also picked up lots of new autumn words in our oral language stations playing ‘I spy’ and ‘Bingo’.
Check out the Junior Infants making play dough hedgehog families and other autumn objects, painting with forks and cotton buds and developing their thinking and oral language skills spotting some differences and giving descriptions!
We are continuing with our Maths games and stations as the boys love to engage with them so much. Here are some of the activities we got up to this month so far. We developed our sorting skills further, copied patterns and constructed them with cubes, continued to practise manipulating and making the number 1 with play dough and started our maths books, which the boys were very eager about!
Thanks for visiting and be sure to stay tuned for our next post, all about Halloween in Junior Infants!
