April in Junior Infants with Ms. O’Donoghue

How is it almost Easter time? The year is absolutely flying here in Junior Infants and I can’t believe it is April already. We started the month with some very hungry caterpillar art, where the boys used their fingers to paint their colourful pictures.

We also took this book as our inspiration for a science lesson, where we learned all about the life cycle of a butterfly! We displayed what we had learned using different shaped pasta shells on paper plates.

We also began to talk about planting and growing things and even set up our own class garden centre. The boys learned the steps necessary to grow a plant as well as how to take care of it. We planted some cress seeds and our daily plant monitor checked that the plants got sun, water and air to help them grow!

We all enjoyed our Easter Holidays too and the Easter bunny even visited the class where he left a special Easter egg hunt for the boys to enjoy. Mr Murphy’s 6th class came to help the boys read the clues and search for treats around the school, it was an egg-cellent day!
