On Wednesday, November 4th Mr Murphy’s and Ms Moynihan’s classes visited the Republican plot. We were marking the centenary of momentous events in Cork including the deaths of Terence McSwiney and Joe Murphy.
We were very fortunate to liaise with our local historical association and on the day Joe Murphy’s grandniece, Shirley Kelleher addressed the boys. Her talk was very informative and interesting. The boys were enthralled and had many questions to ask.
The visit has enkindled in the boys a keen interest in our local history and we look forward to further interaction with our local historical society.
