We carried out the ‘Skittles Experiment’ this week. We arranged the skittles around the plate and then slowly poured some warm water on the plate. The warm water caused the food colouring and sugar to dissolve, so the colour spread over the plate. We created beautiful plates of rainbow colours.
This week in Suaimhneas we also learned all about Magnets. We learned that a ‘magnet’ is a piece of metal that pulls other types of metal towards itself. We learned that this force, called magnetism, can work through other materials such as paper, card and plastic also. We explored various types of magnets and investigated what objects the magnet would attract to. We then used all this information to create a magic trick – The Dancing Corks!
