New Green Schools Committee

Today the new Geen Schools Committee met for the first time to discuss environmental issues around the school. Please find below minutes from our meeting.

Green Schools Committee Meeting: 10th October 2025

Attendees:, Robert , Titu , Ayaan , Ahmed , Ryan , Rory , Antony , Jayden , Oscar  , Kayden , Marcus , Mr Donnellan

  • Welcome everyone to our first green schools committee meeting of 2025-2026 academic year
  • The committee talked about what the green schools programme is, the 5 flags we already have for ; litter & waste , water , energy , transport and biodiversity
  • The committee elected Kayden as the chairperson and Robert as secretary
  • Over the next 2 years the committee will be working towards a green flag in: Global Citizenship – Litter & Waste
  • To begin their work the committee decided to refocus on litter & waste in the school and look at the use of our three bins in every classroom: Recycling , General waste and compost
  • The plan for the next month is:
  • A) Check to see if every classroom has the three bins with clear labels
  • B) Inform the school about Green Schools & what we are working towards
  • C) Elect a litter committee to check bins every day and record which classes are using the bins correctly
  • D) Place a box in every classroom to collect plastic bottles for Deposit Return Scheme and use money from this to reward the classes using the three bins correctly
  • The committee will meet again next Tuesday 14th October @ 1.45pm
