In keeping with a lovely, long standing tradition the Lord Mayor came to visit our school today. Councillor Damien Boylan was welcomed with a guard of honour by our sixth class pupils on his arrival.
In the hall all pupils and staff gathered where the Lord Mayor received a very warm welcome and we sang Amhrán a bhFiann. Ayaan, Emmet and Christopher provided words of welcome as Gaeilge agus as Béarla. Cllr Boylan spoke brilliantly to an enthralled audience of students and delivered two simple but fundamental messages; to ‘dream big’ and to ‘be sound’.
In honour of the Lord Mayor we sang the beautiful song ‘Grace’ as Gaeilge accompanied by Ms. Mangan on the violin. He complimented the boys on their exemplary behaviour and singing before delivering homework off to a rapturous reaction.
