The first and second classes followed in the footsteps of famous artist Andy Goldsworthy and made “land art” during a trip to the Regional Park in Ballincollig this week. On a sunny autumn morning the boys created beautiful art using natural materials found on-site. Enjoy the slideshow of their masterpieces!
Working in pairs, the pupils then undertook a scavenger hunt. Employing their powers of observation and often thinking ‘outside the box’, they searched high and low for a list of autumn items, ticking them off as they retrieved them. Lovely teamwork was on display and was praised by the teachers.
The favourable weather conditions allowed the boys to share a park picnic. Passing walkers complimented the boys’ manners and commented on the lovely lilt of laughter in the air.
As part of our recent science lessons on the parts of a tree and photosynthesis, the boys walked the tree trail in the park and read the information displayed on the trunks. Some pupils volunteered to read aloud for a group of their classmates which was very brave of them. Maith sibh a bhuachaillí.
Finally, the boys had a well-earned opportunity to climb, swing, slide and play soccer before we boarded the bus to return to school.
