I hope you are all well and that we will all see each other very soon .I hope also that the school work I set each week is not causing any unnecessary stress. Please contact me any time if I can be of any support to you or your child . Children work at different rates, each home has a different set of circumstances ,children have preferences for different subjects and as a result I have included a variety of activities which you can pick and choose at your discretion to suit you and your child .
You can communicate with me through Microsoft Teams if you have any queries or requests and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Pupils can return work to me on this for feedback and encouragement. Essentially Microsoft Teams will facilitate communication and its main benefit is as a portfolio of student’s work .I will get back to everyone as quickly as possible .
Id anyone is having problems logging in to Microsoft Teams, email distancelearning@togherboys.com for assistance
We are so lucky to have this beautiful weather It is more important that your children have a chance to get outside , enjoy nature in your garden ,listen to the birdsong , read their books under the shade of a tree, run around and sing their songs out loud, write a letter to granny or a neighbour or friend. It is the time to be creative. I have included a link at the end of this page to the Irish Wildlife Trust Art Competition . It’s a lovely competition but entries must be in by 17.00 on Monday ,so why not start the week with art !!!!! This is an opportunity to learn in a way that school doesn’t often facilitate, so please don’t be tied exclusively to the activities I have set .
Tabhair aire .
Le dea-ghuí, Liam
Every day I would recommend continuing on with one test from BrainTeasers. Continue with one each day in sequential order.
For spelling and litriú, move on to the next unit this week. For English spellings, I would advise taking 4 words a day for 4 days; 16 words in total. For litriú, take 3 words a day for 4 days; 12 words in total.

Maths: – Every day practice multiplication and division tables. These can be done in a fun and enjoyable manner through challenges and games. Recite tables within a certain time frame, get 10/15/20 tables correct in a row etc, etc. The maths games Fizz Buzz and Buno are especially popular in the class.
Operations: Multiplication and Division
For the coming week, we will go right back back and look over multiplication and division. We have practiced this so much in 3rd and 4th class and this is a fantastic chance for us to take time to look back over it.
Monday: Multiplying tens and unit
As you have been practicing your tables every week, it is now time to move on to multiplying a number by another number bigger than 12. For example 15×4, 17×3, 23×9.
As you all know, these multiplication sums must always be written out downwards. Put the bigger number on top and multiply the unit by the smaller number and then the ten by the smaller number. Don’t forget to carry the ten after multiplying the unit. There are examples on this page and have a go off all the sums on question 3,4 and 5.

Tuesday: Today we will practice multiplication of tens and units again. Today you will be multiplying with hundreds as well. Do this the exact same way. Here are a few pages of questions, do as many as you like.
Wednesday: Now we’ll look back at dividing 2/3 digit numbers by 1 digit numbers. Here are a few examples of how to lay out your sum and how to solve it.

Thursday: Here are some more division questions. Again, write them out the way we always do and the way I have in my example!

Friday: Some general revision!

This year we have spoken a lot about Gratitude and Kindness. Every day write down 3 things you are grateful for and 3 kind things you did for others today. It is so important that you are helpful and caring to your families during this time. You have the chance to fill someone else’s bucket every single day
